Default 2014 DREAM Dachtoberfest (Pic Heavy)

On Saturday we went to the DREAM Dachtoberfest. It was fun. I got to see Shelly who I used to work with and is a wonderful rescue person. She's moved to Indiana and was back to visit for the weekend. She says she misses all the rescue events because she hasn't found very many dachshund people there I'm hoping she comes to visit more often. It was good to see her.

Here are Cash and Miller enjoying the sunshine

Here's some of the dogs and people

    A pretty LH red

This is Marci, the lady who runs a cage free boarding facility and allows us to use it for our fundraisers. The dogs all love her. She seems to be a pied piper of dachshunds

More to come! Hang on . . .

    Here's the silent auction

Here's a quilt that was auctioned off. I was sort of ticked off that they removed it early without warning and I didn't get to bid on it. They did that with the whole silent auction. No warning about the end of the auction. When I went to check on the items I wanted, they were gone. :(

And now some costumes. This cute little girl is standing by a state of Texas sign with a dachshund on it that was for sale as a fundraiser.

This cute little cowboy ran all over the grounds with his rider on his back and it didn't seem to bother him at all

This little girl had the most beautiful amber eyes

This was my personal favorite costume. The Yellow Submarine! Complete with pics of the Beatles on the portholes on the sides

And here are my two in their recycled Lederhosen. They got 2nd place though.

It was a lot of fun. I felt bad for Shelly when she told me that there aren't any dachshund events like that in Indiana. When she moved there, she was really looking forward to it. She grew up there and wanted to go back, but I got the feeling she wasn't all that happy there now. At least she always knows that Houston would love to have her back

Wow, looks a a superb event. Yay, cool photos of cute furkids and the cute costumes. Love that awesome quilt. Most of those doggies appear to be off-leash, too. Nice!

Yes, the place we have our events is a boarding facility with a big open area in the back that is secured so the dogs can be off leash and still safe. However, if we let Cash off leash he goes and eats all the food he can find so he has to stay on leash.
