How is your boy doing this morning?
More Patti and lots of for Mama. I hope it's nothing, but if it is something at least controllable.
Iris (Jack's Mom, valet and cook)
Still not completely himself, but he's trying to be LOL. I also think his mouth is hurting a bit (not chasing and grabbing the ball as much) but he won't let anyone (including me) near it to check. No way. No how. Roll o Friday!! (Thanks for all the good wishes, eveyone!!!! )

For Patti
he was fairly perky this morning, but still a bit off. Not drinking as much though, so hopefully not as dehydrated.
He is a total ass about having his mouth looked at, Lisa. He's not really all that keen on being handled for that kind of stuff at all, but he's improved since he arrived. He's a pretty rough-around-the-edges dog . I suspect he spent some time living rough before he got picked up and dumped in the shelter in Montreal. He's pretty loveable though...in a curmudgeonly kinda way!

FWIW? I dunno. Perhaps you've already tried this? ...
We use HVT's (High Value Treats) for this. Whenever we poke & prod our furkids in any manner they obviously dislike (eg, teeth, nails, baths, carrying, etc.) we've learned to IMMEDIATELY reward it with a big honking piece (or 2, 3, or 4) of HVT. They learn that HVT's will always follow yuckiness they must endure. So they let us poke & prod. And as soon as their feet are returned to the ground, they face us with tails wagging, for their HVT. Yummy! Maybe it'll work for you?
This also worked on (our newbie) Lizzy yesterday, whom hates being picked up, esp. inverted to belly-up. So extra HVT's were offered while I did so, and she happily let me. She calmed down, cuz HVTs kept flowing. Same thing happened at bath time, which the SPCA told us she hates.
Yes, it's embarrassing that my pockets are always full of treats, 24/7. Just in case.
