Default Help me feed Maisy right?

Maisy is on the same food as Milo, because it's already a 5 star food. I'm just supposed to feed 25% more than the daily feeding guidelines.

    This is the guideline...
    10lbs or less ¼ - 1 cup daily.

So if I am feeding her 3 times a day, how much should I be offering her each time and what should I expect her to actually eat? Right now, I have a 1/3 cup scoop as the smallest I seem to have available. I can get a new scoop set with a 1/4 if I need it.

I'm not a food expert. Heck mine get pork rinds every now and again, however I do know it isn't recommended to give a puppy adult dog kibble. Adult kibble makes them gain weight before their bones can develop properly. It is always best if you are going to feed kibble to use a good puppy formula until the puppy reaches 1 year old.

By the way - Hi! I'm Tracy or more commonly known as RHG. Welcome to the board!

What food are you feeding? I will look it up for you. Tracy is right, but I am not sure if it applies to small breeds too, or just larger breed dogs where bone development is crucial.

The amount varies. It's been a long time since I fed kibble, but I am pretty sure it was 1/2 of the daily recommendations that I fed.

Can you contact the breeder and ask her how much she was feeding and what type? And let Lisa check on the food you are feeding. I'm not sure what a 5 star dog food is or where the rating comes from. On some websites manufacturers can buy a rating so you have to be careful of that. The only guide I ever used was the Whole Dog Journal's list of best dog food.

Puppies I don't know, but I do know you can rarely rely on the feeding guidelines on the package. Other than that, I will leave you to the others on this forum who have more knowledge about the topic than I do.

They are eating Nutrisca Salmon and Chickpea Formula.

Milo has grain and chicken allergies and the potato in some of the grain free food was giving him yeast infections in his ears. The bag says I can feed it to puppies and when I went to the pet supply store to get a puppy food, they said I could keep her on this because it's already a top quality food.

My Pogo has chicken and flax allergy which makes finding a food impossible so I have to make his food.

It is rated very high on http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/dog-fo...isca-dog-food/

What was she eating before? When the girls came from the breeder, they were eating Pedigree. When I switched them to Wellness, and when I have switched foods on other occasions, I've looked at the amount of calories and tried to provide about the same amount of calories with the new food for starters.

When you first switch, it's best to go slowly (try 3:1 ratio of old food to new for several days, then 1/2 and 1/2, and so on) - to prevent GI issues. However, if she has already switched and is doing fine, disregard that .
