Default I love my dog, I love my dog, I love my dog

and it's a darn good thing that I do.

Sleepless in Savannah has returned, and I am at my wit's end. I think the whole problem is that it's been entirely too hot for either of us to go for a walk. She's in the crate during the day, so she sleeps, I'm sure. What else is there to do?

So when I get home, worn slick out and ready for downtime, she is SO excited to see me!!! Then when we go to bed, she's not sleepy. I know she thinks I am a big grumpy-butt.... hateful mean ole Mommy.

There have been vague threats about a flyswatter.

    Just needed to share.

    Sincerely,

    Sleepless in Savannah

I totally can relate and I feel your pain. Will she chase a ball or can you buy her some kind of interactive toy that she can play with by herself? That's my best suggestion unless you could hire a dog walker.

My coworker takes her Beagle (very high energy) to a doggie daycare where he runs and plays all day long... so she and her husband can sleep at night. Any option like that near you?

I thank doG for Darby's ball obsession. I can toss the ball from the couch for a while and run him down so he sleeps. In general he's pretty good though. If you get him on the bed and tell him to 'go to sleep', he mostly does.

I feel your frustration. Milo always gets me up at least twice because he has to go outside and do the business.

Is she sleeping better? It's hard being a working mom.

We're not getting up in the night, she just starts whining at the crack of 5 a.m....

I understand she's all done sleeping and ready to play, and puppy breakfast is served at 6 am. (puppy suppertime is 6 pm)

Hopefully it'll continue to cool down and we can get back to walking. Neither of us is up for walking in 100 degrees.

I have envy issues. Now it's Milo AND Maisy getting me up at least twice. It's got to the point where I leave the leash on Maisy and put the loop around my arm so when she goes to go down the ramp, it tugs me awake. Except somehow yesterday it managed to get unhooked from her collar. Sigh. She WAS potty pad trained before we moved here. It's new carpet too. I love my dogs, I love my dogs, I love my dogs. But I will still threaten daily to roast them when they pee on the carpet.

I swear it'll get better. If Savannah Jane WildChild can get better, yours will too.

Eco-88! Can you fence in an area if they get down at night and cover it with pee pads?
