Getting lots better, but mom is still concerned about the "what the hell?" part of this equation.

Poor baby! Whatever it was it didn't affect the black part of her nose or her upper lip around her mouth which makes me wonder if she stuck her nose under something and picked up whatever it is that way. Perhaps a spider bite? This evening when it is dark and you are at your very bravest take an LED flashlight and go out to the area and shine the light around on the ground. Watch for what look like water droplets reflecting the light back at you, if you investigate further you will find they are actually spider eyes checking you out.

OMG! If you do that, you are far braver than I am. I could NEVER! Gah, my skin is crawling!

I've rooted around out there in the daylight but it never occurred to me to look at night. I may need some liquid courage, but I'll give it a whirl.
    Updated pic today:

Default Possible cause of nose injury

I am so very glad to see your pup is better. Here in Florida we have quite a few poisonous caterpillars who like to hide underneath leaves. This may have been what she encountered.
