    Default Fit Bit Fun

I decided to buy a FitBit to see if it would help me be more active. I got it yesterday and set up my account, synced it with my computer and started using it. Thanks to the dog walks I logged some 9,219 steps from 3:00 on! The weekdays, I"m sure, will not be that good. The funny thing is that it has a sleep tracker and I was experimenting with it last evening. Evidently, you can't turn it on and off because this morning it was telling my I slept 2 hr and 37 minutes last night and it was between 8:57 (at which time I was still watching tv) and 12:36 which was about when I turned the lights out. I'm going to try again tonight to see if I can get a real reading

Rafi loves his fit bit. I like mine. My favorite thing, it tells me when my phone is ringing This is especially handy when my phone is buried in my purse and Rafi is trying to get a hold of me in a store. I have yet to hit 10,000 steps but have been really really close a couple of times.

Our board chair and all her staff have them...supplied by the health and wellness fund at their centre . I kinda like the idea, but the privacy issues with them make me crazy. A good pedometer/heart rate monitor works just fine for ol' low tech luddite moi . (Besides, I REALLY don't want to know how little I sleep ).

I"ve heard about the privacy issues but when I logged on to set up an account the only things they wanted were my name, address and birthdate. I just set up a fake birth date reasonably near my own but not mine. I don't plan use anything except the step counter part so I'm not worried about it.

Apparently all that data it reads is uploaded to the company. I'd be worried about who they're selling it to...like insurance companies. I really hate that privacy doesn't really exist any more. But having said that I can certainly see the appeal of it!

Well, I can see that, I guess. It doesn't seem to really read that much data other than steps and intensity of workout which I question. When I walk Scooter, it logs it as an intense workout. While we walk at a good rate, I don't even break a sweat. So I guess my insurance will think I'm really working out! If you kept track of everything manually like food and water intake, it might show more, but I'm not doing that. I'm way too lazy for that.

I love my fitbit. My favorite part is seeing how I sleep. Apparently I sleep like a rock and John is up off and on all night. Mine is pretty accurate with the sleep part. I hit 10,000 steps more often than not, but I do have 4 little things keeping me going all day.

To update my Fitbit experience, I really like it. I hit my 10,000 steps more often than not. The exceptions are usually the rare days that I have to drive off somewhere and spend a good part of the day and so I'm sitting in the car a lot fighting traffic and don't feel like walking dogs when I get home.

I did have a learning experience with it this week. I had come home for lunch and my steps were a bit low so I decided to walk some while I was home. I usually clip it to my bra, but I wanted to make sure I was up the 4,000 steps so I clipped it to the pocket of my pants. Of course, I totally forgot to put it back on my bra and when back to work. I had to make a couple stops so I was in and out of the car. When I got to the office, I didn't have my Fitbit anymore

So I look in the car and around the car. No Fitbit. I went back to both places and I'd been and looked. No Fitbit. I finally gave up and went back to the office and finished work. When I went home, I got my laptop (I don't have a smart phone for it to sync with) and took it around the house to see if it would sync with the Fitbit so I'd know where it was. No sync. I needed to get the dry cleaning out of the car so I took the laptop out and sat it in the back of the car while I took the dry cleaning in. When I came out, it had sync'd with the Fitbit which meant it was in the car. Now I started looking really hard and I found it! It has slid down between the seat and the console. Since my car interior is black and the Fitbit is black, I could barely see it. I got it out and went inside and immediate ordered an new cover with the clip from Amazon in bright turquoise! At least if I lose it again, it will be easier to see!

I hate it when that happens!!! Especially cuz you go through all that "I've lost it!!!" panic. Glad you found it in the end.
