    Suzanne, I never knew a human could love a dog so much until I met the Duchess. Although her crossing was much different than Jack's, in that I had to make the Very. Hard. Decision, I think the pain dulls after a while.

    The human psyche just isn't designed for acute grief for an extended period of time.

    Now when I remember her, it's happy times, her being silly, and all that love between us. I wish you peace, and for an easing of the pain in your broken heart.

    Thank you for that wonderful tribute about Jack. I read it three times and will copy it. He was great, so devoted to you. Don't be surprised if he comes to visit you. Not once but many times. Keep a watch and let us know. They often gently bump our leg. That's what our Heidi does to my husband and myself. She passed two years ago. You see they never really leave us.
