    Default Scooter Has Tummy Issues

Poor Scoots is having some tummy problems again. On Sunday *someone* threw up on the bed while I was gone so I had to change the bedding when I got home. Then yesterday, he was acting strange. I went in the bathroom and found him in there laying on the little bed that the little dogs lay on in the morning. Scoots never lays in there. He always lays on the bed. At first, I didn't know if we had a back problem or a stomach problem. He didnt' want to move, hard tight stomach, a bit of shaking. I was trying to figure out what to treat for when I remembered the throw up on the bed on Sunday and figured it was probably his tummy. He wasn't wanting to move much so I figured whatever it was that was probably good.

I was having to syringe okra pepsin diluted in water down his throat yesterday because he wouldn't take anything except water by mouth. Not even chicken broth. So I syringed it down him every couple hours, I was a bit worried that I wasn't getting enough down him but it must have been okay. This morning he came out and wanted peanut butter with the other dogs so I put an okra pepsin pill in it. I'm hoping that does its work and maybe he'll feel like eating his breakfast.

Poor boy was so pitiful yesterday. :(

Good news! Scooter ate his breakfast. Although he did look at the rice and broth like "what the heck?" He was probably thinking "I haven't eaten in 24 hours and you give me broth and rice? I'm starving here!"

I'm going to give him a bit more rice when I go home at lunch and put some more okra pepsin in it. He seems so much better now.

I fed him 3 smaller meals of mostly rice and broth with a bit of meat today and he did really well. I think he's on the way to being back to his normal scootiness.

Suzanne, Okra Pepsin is a holistic product used to stomach issues. It works really well. Usually a day or two of it clears up either diarrhea or upset tummy. I use the Okra Pepsin made by Standard Process. I get it from my vet. I've even taken it myself and it does work!

Sorry I am late on this. Glad he is doing better!! It is a helpless feeling when they are under the weather and you can't fix them right away.
