    Default Cranky Cash

I think Cash has reached an all time high of crankiness. Last night when I was sitting on the bed putting the warm compresses on Darby's eye, Scooter was laying in his crate minding his own business, when Cash comes in the bedroom. He stops, looks around and walks right over to Scooter's crate. He stands in front of the door with his nose inches from Scooter and GROWLS at him! WTH? Poor Scooter wasn't doing anything at all but apparently still managed to piss Cash off. Scooter looked at me with his ears down and pitiful eyes like "Mom! Make him stop!" and kept looking at Cash out of the corners of his eyes. Cash just seems to be more of a grumpy old man all the time.

Sadly, I think it's permanent. He has hated Scooter ever since he was a big rambunctious puppy and came to live with us in 2004. Nothing much has changed.

Cash used to growl at Scooter when he just walked in the room

Poor Scooter . Keep a close eye on him, Patrice. That's how James was with Wen, and the sicker Wen got, the crankiness escalated rather alarmingly. I think it's a type of pack pecking order readjustment. I had to come down hard on James few times, and wouldn't leave the two of them alone together if I was out. Kids!!!!

I will, Paula. I seem to spend a lot of time saying "Stop it, Cash" and moving him away from Scooter and hardly ever leave them alone without being crated. In this case, I'm a bit afraid for Cash. While Scooter isn't aggressive, he will defend himself and with the weight/size difference (Scooter is twice Cash's size), it probably won't come out well for Cash. Poor little old grumpy man.

Poor Scooter. I agree there is something probably going on in the pecking order. Hope they work it out.
