    Default I'm Heartbroken - updated #14

We just got back from taking Scooter to the e-vet. He has a large tumor on his spleen (I think. I was bit shocked and not comprehending as well as I should). He's staying overnight. If they can stabilize him, we may bring him home tomorrow. But he won't be with us long. I'm just so sad. I was hoping to have a few more years with my big, sweet boy. Life sucks.

Oh no, Patrice! I am SO sorry! That is what my Tristan had, but we did not know it until it was too late. Many, many rayz ~~~~~~ for your boy for the best outcome - or if it has to be, a peaceful transition.

Will be thinking of you all. Too much sadness and loss lately.

Oh Patrice I'm speechless. So unexpected and so hard. Kim is right...too much loss. Is it inoperable? Sending all the and there are. Please know we're all holding you guys close right now. Keep us posted, ok? Somehow it feels like our DLC dogs should go on forever.

That's what got Pogo, Patrice. We didn't know until the day we had to put him down. He was with us for about 6 months from when he became food fussy, which for Pogo was a very big deal. I am truly devastated at this news. You know how much Rafi and I both love your little malamute. Sending all our love to you, Jim and Scoots. F*&k Cancer. This sucks so bad.

Thank you, everyone. We just got home from the ER with him. He's better than I expected him to be, but didn't want to eat so I'll offer him some broth and rice later

Paula, they said with surgery he would probably get a 3 or 4 extra months. With surgery and chemo, 6 months. I didn't feel like that was long enough to put him thru the surgery and chemo.

Like Kim's Tristan, its really too late to do much for him. I had the same thing happen with Pebbles back in the day. Unfortunately, its usually not found until it is too late.

We're just going to take what time we have with him.

I'm going to go lay on the bed and snuggle my boy

Well, day one back from the e-vet went pretty well. He's up and around enough to get off the bed and go outside when he needs to. I've been feeding him small amounts every couple hours and giving him broth and he's doing pretty well. Mostly we both slept today. I think both of us needed it. He's getting gabapentin (?) every 8 hours to keep him comfortable. I'm so glad that I already had an appt set up with Dr. Cooper for Monday. We'll see what she has to say. But for now, he's comfy and seems happy enough so that's a good thing.

Scooter is amazingly perky. He's eating well and has been up and around most of the day. He had me up at 4:00 and 5:30 this morning which probably wasn't surprising considering he got fluids at the e-vet. He's such a trooper and doing so well. Today he was in his spot looking out the front windows and barking at people. I usually don't let him bark, but today I said 'the heck with it" and just let him have fun.

I'm so glad that he's enjoying life yet. And that you have time to store up memories.
