    Default And In Other News

Tonight I was very tired and in bed hoping to get a good night's sleep when I heard some weird scratching sounds. I went to investigate and found Cash on the floor with his feet "running" like crazy. I think he was having a seizure. I finally got him to come out of it by giving him Rescue Remedy. Now he's walking in circles on the floor. Good Dog, I hope nothing happens with Darby. I don't think I can take another one.

Well, I was up until after 1:30 with Cash. He was pacing and pacing and I could figure out how to get him to relax. Google does have it's uses. I googled how to get your dog to quit pacing after a seizure and I found a lot of references to giving them vanilla ice cream. I had vanilla ice cream! I gave him water and the ice cream and then a bit of food (as per what others said had worked for them). I had already put a tension wrap on him so I left that in place. He seemed a bit calmer so I put him on my lap and petted him (also as per what others said worked for them) and he finally fell asleep. I ended up giving him my pillow and sleeping on the other side of the bed so I wouldn't disturb him. Earlier I couldn't get him to relax enough to hold him on my lap. He was struggling against it so I guess the vanilla ice cream, water with Rescue Remedy and food helped him. Nothing else happens.

And I agree, Paula. Old dogs . . . I feel like I'm running the Schoppe Canine Geriatric Hospital here.

Oh boy, Patrice! for you all. I heard putting honey on their gums also helps.

Oh holy sheep. So very sorry, my friend. I think keeping vanilla ice cream handy at all times is probably always a good idea.

Dr C said to keep him on Rescue Remedy 4 or 5 times a day and watch him so that's what I'm doing. And I spilled my bottle today so I'll have to get another soon. The good news is that I got some sleep last night!

So far, so good. He hasn't had another seizure, thank doG. I'm keeping him on small portions of food several times a day to try to keep him blood sugar level. I'm also giving him the rescue remedy. hoping for the best.

I'm so happy for this positive update. Too much to deal with at once. How are the dogs with Scooter's passing?
