Default 2 Lovely hours at the Offleash Dog park,,

WEll, Aside from my not so good first experience at our local off leash dog park, I have had 3 more great experiences, so I take the first one to be just the time of day I was there and realize I must go back several times to assess the situation..

Yesterday I spent 2 whole hours with the girls at the dog park, I was off yesterday for doctor's appts. for Rachel and myself and after Rachel was done I dropped her back at school and headed over to the dog park with Heidi and Princess.

When we arrived, there was a bassett hound there and an American Eskimo. They only stayed about 15 more minutes then they both left.

Then we had the entire park to ourselves for about 45 minutes!!, I was just loving it, the weather was great and the sun was shining and I even got a little sun on my arms

then slowly other SMALL dogs came :cheer2:

I was so excited, first a Minature Pin came, he was so cute and his owner said that usually he was the smallest one there,

then, a beagle came, and then a lady came with 3 terriers, 2 westies, and 1 black scotty terrier.

Heidi and Princess had so so much fun,

then a big greyhound came and a dalmation, but they were really nice..

So, it looks like the dog park will be a spot for us, I just have to watch when I go and leave when the really big aggressive dogs come around.

The lady with the Mini Pin said that a Weimerimer was attacked last year and seriously injured by an un-licensed Doberman, nobody knew who the person or dog was and by the time the police arrived they had fled the scene. That is scary and sad,

but on the whole I think it will be OK,

It's nice you met some responsible dog owners and your dogs got to play with new friends

I am glad it's a better experience this time.
Most of the time we have an ok experience. We walked and on rare occassions she played. I just have to keep an close eye on her. If there is no one around small dog area, we just do some training or whatnot. ;)

Our dog park in Austin just fenced off a special section for "small dogs only." Living in such an animal-aware city does have it's advantages. Now I can take Julie & Jax to the park and worry a little less about all the big dogs. Glad your experiences have been better:cheer2:

I'm glad the your experiences have improved at the dog park!! Sounds like a fun time for the pups.

Scary about the doberman, its always good to stay alert for ill trained dogs.

Good to hear the second time around in the dog park was a positive one.:cheer2: :cheer2: Sounds like a lot of fun for the furkids.
They may be small, but you should see their hearts. Shelter/Rescue dogs aren't broken. They've simply experienced more life than other dogs. If they were human we would call them wise. They would be the ones with tales to tell and stories to write. The ones dealt a bad hand who responded with courage. Do not pity a shelter/rescue dog. Adopt one. And be proud to have their greatness on your side. Anon
