I talked to the vet and he said that the mushrooms caused throwing up and diarrhea, which in turn caused severe dehydration. The good news is that her liver and kidneys are great! The bad news is that her blood was super concentrated, her white blood count was very high, and her sodium, chloride, and potassium levels were super low. The very low count of potassium levels is what caused the seizures and later on her tremors at the vet office.

Since he was not going to be able to do 24 hour watch on her through the night, he suggested I take her to the emergency clinic. After hearing about the symptoms, the emergency vet said that hopefully, Trixie will be able to go home in the morning, but if she takes a turn for the worse, she will have to stay longer.

I will be picking up Trixie at 4:00 p.m. to take her to the emergency clinic.

AlmostDoxie, Trixie’s vet is Dr. Ryan Bock in Marion.

The emergency clinic is WONDERFUL!!! We were taking our little Chinese Crested out there for acupuncture and they were so nice. I had a friend whose dog was diagonsed with epilepsy and she was treated out there. I am sure they will be able to take good care of Trixie.

I am so glad to hear that she is going to make it. I have been thinking about you guys all day.   for continued recovery.

OH gosh - I somehow missed this also. PLEASE know that I am sending major to Trixie... I will use this as a learning experience, have had shrooms in our backyard - never thought anything about them - you've changed my mind.
BLess you Trixie for having to go through this to give us some better knowledge.

    Smile Thanks for the update.

Oh I am so happy to hear Trixie is doing okay. Sending more feel better for Tixie.
They may be small, but you should see their hearts. Shelter/Rescue dogs aren't broken. They've simply experienced more life than other dogs. If they were human we would call them wise. They would be the ones with tales to tell and stories to write. The ones dealt a bad hand who responded with courage. Do not pity a shelter/rescue dog. Adopt one. And be proud to have their greatness on your side. Anon
